Friday Friday FRIDAY
Still colder than I would like here in West Michigan.  I still like it here.  Great people, Lake Michigan, Grand Rapids area, Saugatuck not too far away either.
Went around shopping today...almost got hit several times because people were speeding, in drive thrus, gas stations, shopping centers.  It is still winter with ice on the pavement...SLOW down people!
Learned a couple of days ago that someone I went to grade school and high school passed away.  I don;t know if I should be sad or not.  I feel for his surviving family members, but he wasn't the person I remembered growing up.  I heard he cheated his employers out of money and other things since his first job.  I am filled with remorse that someone my age passed away, but not as sad as I was when my friend Suzanne Lange passed away.  I was heartbroken then.
OK, music.  I love listening to Kristin Chenoweth.  I absolutely LOVE her!  If I could ever meet her, I don't know what I would do.  I am sure she gets a lot of that.  I love watching the YouTube videos of her on Boston Pops.  Keith Lockhart is amazing to watch too.
Ash Wednesday is coming soon, which means we are in the season of Lent.  I am excited about it but kinda sad at the same time.  I have to work every Wednesday night, which means I miss mid week church services.  I am going to try to go to another church on Saturday nights to get my fix in.
Need to work out more often.  Went to the gym yesterday and worked out for about 45 minutes.  Love Planet Fitness.  I wish that I lived closer and the weather was better.  Can't wait for SPRING to work out more!
Love blogging with you all...gets my creative juices flowing.
Peace and love

Where has time flown?

It has been three years since I last posted.  Where do I begin?  I have had great voice lesson with Carlos Seise from Grand Haven and Gwenneth Bean from Grand Rapids.  Both are amazing people, great musicians and wonderful friends.  I still would LOVE to sing more but dont have the job currently to do that.  I work two nights a week.  Would love to work for Disney again in FL or CA.  I miss the spotlight and the attention.  Let's see , this winter is awful.  I think we have gotten about 120 inches of snow or more since January 1st and winter is not over yet.  Today it snowed again.  Ugh.
I have several ideas for childrens stories.  I have been told I should really write more.  One is about a French Canadian moose that loves everything about Christmas.  Another is a retelling of Goldilocks as a tomboy called Muddilocks.  Would love to get together some of my childhood reminisces about being too skinny and my aunt making me clothes.  Just like Grandpa would be about a boy who idolizes his grandfather, even wanting to dress like him.  Yet another would be about a boy who has a phobia about riding the school bus.
Even thinking about going back to school to get my masters degree in higher education.  My dad was a dean of education at a local college in OH.
You never know what the future will hold.  I do know one thing.  I need to write more and often.
Ok.  Did my blog today after three years.  Hope you are still reading.

new day

Not a lot to say tonight...going to watch a movie with my honey...tomorrow will be an exciting day.

Monday, November 8, 2010

Today is the first day of my music blog.  I have a vocal performance major with an elementary education degree from a liberal arts school in Michigan.  I love singing and performing.  My favorite musical genres are Broadway, movie themes and currently opera. My first musical experience was watching the Sound of Music on tv with Mom, thinking that Julie Andrews was just incredible.  I don't really remember how old I was but I do remember I was still in elementary school and that I wanted to sing like her.  Heck, I didn't know the Nazi's chased after the Von Trapp family until after I was in my teens and could watch the entire 3 hour tv telecast.
Words can not describe my love for music.  I love hearing good singers, such as Audra McDonald, Kristen Chenoweth, Mandy Patinkin, Barry Manilow, and, of course, Julie Andrews, to name a few.
When I first took voice lessons, I was in college, I prayed for a good voice.  I had a small range at that time, middle C to an octave and an E above that.  With practice and some good voice teachers, I extended my singing voice to a high C and sometimes an E or F above that, on a good day.
I am currently singing at Central Methodist Church in Muskegon, MI, a town that has welcomed me with open arms.  I am partnered to three wonderful bears, one who is a big supporter of my singing.  He, Mike, has an awesome voice.
In December, I am singing the tenor solos Comfort Ye and Every Valley for the Messiah Sing-a-long in Muskegon.
If you have never been to Muskegon, you must come.  The people are great, the shoreline is nice.
Well, enough about me.  I hope you enjoy what you are reading.  If you have any questions or comments, please send me an email.
